TR8 Test, Development. EXP cars

The TR8 is unusual among British cars in that it was the only production model never officially sold in right-hand-drive (RHD) form. Although 22 preproduction RHD TR8s, along with three RHD EXP cars, were sold by the factory through the Measham auctions, the vast majority of the approximately 2,750 left-hand-drive (LHD) TR8s were exported exclusively to the United States and Canada.

As the TR8 was a British-built car developed almost entirely for LHD markets, all test, development, and EXP vehicles were also produced in LHD configuration. These cars were intended for evaluation and validation within their target markets and were subsequently disposed of through the Measham auctions in August and September 1981.

Below is a list of the known LHD test, development, and EXP cars, as recorded in factory documentation and departmental records.
