This is what I know about the car. I have loads of documentation for it and below are probably the main bits of info.
Document – ‘Application for a licence for a new motor vehicle & declaration for registration’.
This document describes the car as a Triumph TR8 Manual 2 valve sports coupe in Brooklands green. It was registered to BL Cars of Canley on 2nd Jan 1980, and signed by DF Hawks (vehicle admin).The original Reg document describes it as a Triumph 2 axle rigid body sports, and is registered to BL Cars again. This document is dated 9th Jan 1980. The engine number on the document is stated as 13E00139 with a capacity of 1998cc, but someone has struck through and written ‘should be CV15270 with a capacity of 3528cc. Obviously this is wrong – The engine no was correct but the capacity was wrong. The current V5 document describes the car as a Triumph Sports. All recent MOT’s describe the car as a TR8.
The Heritage certificate describes the car as a Triumph TR7 Coupe

The car was registered to BL Cars on 2nd Jan 1980, and sold by them on 5th Feb 1982.Rex Holford went to value the car after the the first owner died and left his collection to his housekeeper. He confirmed it was a genuine pre-production’8′, and I recall speaking to this lady after she had sold it.

Unique opportunity to buy the very 1st RHD TR8 built MVP404V with only 38k genuine Miles from new. The current owner no longer drives the car much and would like it to go to someone who will give it the exposure it deserves as such a unique TR8. The car is totally as it was and has never been painted or otherwise. It has spent its life well stored in a dry warm facility.
Owner had the fuel tank replaced and the back axle, hand brake and rear suspension renovated whilst it was out out. He has also had a new heater matrix fitted and the servo rebuilt. The wheels were all refurbished and are unmarked and it had new tyres at the same time and a new Mohair hood.
